Michael Martin graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art in September 1994 with a degree in Photography. After school he continued his education serving as a freelance photo assistant on shoots for national publications such as Sports Illustrated, Time, Newsweek and People magazines. In addition to working as an assistant for editorial photographers, Martin also worked as an assistant on several Fortune 500 companies' annual reports, on international advertising campaigns for sportswear manufacturers, and on several catalogs.
Additionally, in 1994 Martin began working for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver as the society photographer, covering a variety of high profile events in Colorado. While working for the News, Martin began to expand his range and shoot his first love, sports.
In early 1996 he was contracted to be one of the team photographers for the Denver Broncos football team. In this capacity, he photographs action during the games, as well as the team's special events and team website product shots. The photos are used promotionally in advertisements and team publications. His action shots have appeared on the cover and throughout GameDay Magazine, Broncos Magazine and on the Broncos Official Homepage www.denverbroncos.com.
He currently maintains a 2500 Sq foot natural daylight studio right outside of downtown Denver. He does specialty portraits and commercial product shots at this location.Martin has done work for clients such as Total Petroleum, United Way and Pikes Peak International Raceway, to name a few. He is currently pursuing additional corporate and advertising clients to utilize his talents in a wider range of photographic projects.
